Original Border War era South African Railway Police Jump Wings - Second Pattern.
Originally established in 1934, the SARP (South African Railway Police) was a highly skilled law enforcement agency responsible for overseeing the country's railways, harbors, and international airports. In 1975, a specialized unit known as the South African Railways Police Special Task Force was created with the purpose of resolving hostage situations in a variety of settings, including ships, buses, aircraft, buildings, and trains. The trained members of this unit were dispersed across the country after receiving training at the South African Infantry School. In 1980, the unit underwent a reorganization and received further special forces training under the guidance of Brigadier A.F. Horak, with members being stationed throughout the country. The unit's only known operation was their involvement in ending the Air India hijacking in Durban in 1981. However, in 1986, the unit was disbanded and its duties were integrated into the police service.
