Original Vintage World War One era Dominican Republic Civil Ensign Cotton Linen Stick Flag Circa 1910-1920.

The flag measures 16” X 11”

The pole measures 32”

The blue on the flag stands for liberty, the white for salvation, and the red for the blood of heroes. The civil flag follows the same design, but without the charge in the center (as listed here). The flag was designed by Juan Pablo Duarte. The Civil Ensign was officially used in the Dominican Republic prior to the National Flag’s official use, the Civil Ensign was adopted in 1849, while the National Flag was adopted in 1865.
