Original April 13 1932 dated Wire Press Photo of German Heavyweight Boxing Champion Max Schmeling. The reverse is stamped and has the newspaper articles headline attached which reads 

“The World’s Heavyweight Champ returns to defend his crown. 
New York. Max Schmeling, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion arriving on the SS New York Today (Friday) for what promises to be an extended visit to the New World. He was met by his manager, Joe Jacobs, who announced that plans have been completed for the Teuton’s preliminary exhibition tour and for his training in preparation for defending his title against Jack Sharkey at the Yankee Stadium on June 16th.”

Slight tearing and creasing are present. The photo measures 8” X 10”. 

Maximilian Adolph Otto Siegfried Schmeling or simply Max Schmeling (28 Sept 1905 – 2 Feb 2005) was a German boxer who was heavyweight champion of the world between 1930 and 1932. Also known as “The Black Uhlan of the Rhine”, his two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national associations. Schmeling is the only boxer to win the world heavyweight championship on a foul. Schmeling also served in the Fallschirmjager during World War Two and was featured on the cover of Signal Magazine at the time.
