Extremely Rare Original Funeral Prayer Card from the Funeral of Mob Boss Joe Colombo, dated May 22 1978. This piece is “extremely rare” as the funeral was very small and private and only attended by family and close friends (although prayer cards from Mobsters are rare anyhow). Newspaper reports list only 30 or so attendees. Adding to it's rarity and historical significance is the listing of the Prospero Funeral Home, a business the Colombo family took part control of to show means of a legitimate income. After Joe Colombo died, Nicholas Prospero, whose name is listed on the card, started complaining that he had to pay too much money to the Colombo family, and according to FBI informant Greg Scarpa, Carmine Persico ordered him killed. In January 1981, Prospero was gunned down while shoveling snow in his driveway.
