Original Boer War - WWII South African Father and Son Medal Grouping.

Consisting of a Medalje voor de Anglo-Boere Oorlog named to the Father, Burger Caspir Andries Munnich (spelled Munnick) of the Potchefstroom Commando. This medal was instituted on 21 December 1920 as an award for Boer veteran officers and men who fought in the 1899–1902 Second Boer War. Most interestingly, this grouping includes a Kings South Africa Medal which is privately engraved Burger C A Munnich (correct spelling). The Father must have either switched sides during the war and presented himself with this award, or??? Definitely more research needed!

The son, CPL F Munnich served in the 8th South Africa Horse during the First World War, and was awarded the South African War Services Medal during the Second World War. The victory medal is written in English and Afrikaans and is officially engraved, the 1914-1915 Star is officially engraved, as well as the British War Medal 1914-1918. The WWII South African 1939-1945 Medal is not engraved.

Also included is a vintage note card featuring the father and sons names from the previous owner.

An excellent three war grouping ready for further research!
