Original World War Two - First Indochina War French Foreign Legion Transportation Company 2/503 1935/46 Model Type II Kepi.
Compagnie Légionnaire de Transport 2/503 (CLT 2/503) was a Logistics unit of the French Foreign Legion that organized in what was then French Indochina on July 1st 1949. The main purpose of this company was transportation of Legionnaires and supplies during the First Indochina War (1946-1954). The company was assigned to the 503rd Transportation Group (503e Groupe de Transport, 1943-1964) and comprised mostly of Legionnaires from the 3e Régiment Étranger d’Infanterie or 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment.
This model 1935/46 Type Two Kepi is made of a dark blue felt outer with silk lining on the inside where a makers label is still present. It retains its original leather brim and leather chinstrap as well as its originally applied Foreign Legion buttons. The brim has come loose from the (wearers) left side, which could be an easy fix! The Kepi also comes stuffed with 1982 dated newspapers that have been in the cap since, from the previous owner.
