Iraq War Fedayeen Saddam was established by the Ba'athist Iraqi government in 1995 as a paramilitary group, loyal to Saddam Hussein. This group was named to suggest a connection with the Palestinian Fedayeen. In July 2003, records of personnel for the Fedayeen were found in the basement of their headquarters in east Baghdad, near Rasheed Air Base. The building was occupied by the Assyrian Democratic Movement at the time of the discovery; following a thorough cataloging process, a Baghdad operation led to the detention of several individuals.
