Original World War Two German Heer (Infantry) Officer's Visor Cap.

Constructed of feldgrau woolen featuring originally applied Insignia, and a officer's silver braided chin chord in excellent outside condition, despite missing the upper inner lining. Very nice example with a slight “crusher” look to it!

During World War II, the Heer served as the land forces component of the Wehrmacht, the regular German Armed Forces. It existed from 1935 until its dissolution in 1945, with formal dissolution occurring in August 1946. Approximately 13.6 million soldiers were enrolled in the German Army, comprised of both volunteers and conscripts. Following the commencement of German rearmament, the Army expanded rapidly under Adolf Hitler's direction, reaching its goal of 36 divisions in just 17 months. Throughout this expansion, concepts introduced during World War I were developed, including the integration of land (Army) and air (Luftwaffe) forces for more effective combined arms operations. The German Army's Blitzkrieg tactics, characterized by their speed and destructive power, resulted in swift victories during the initial years of the war.
