WWII German Luftwaffe Shearling Suede KanalJacke

Shipping calculated at checkout.

Original World War Two German Luftwaffe Pilot’s or Air Crew “KanalJacke” or “Channel Jacket” nicknamed after the Battle of Britain in homage to the English Channel.

Truly a spectacular garment. This jacket is made of a Feldblau dyed shearling suede for the outer (as opposed to the cotton blend outers usually seen) with a full natural fur lining. The dramatic collar is also fully fur lined and in excellent condition with press snaps and belt and hook closures to close at the neck on cold night time flights over the English Channel or Narvik. The jacket features several war-time repairs with original matching suede patches to the sleeves and on the back inside giving this piece lots of character and showing it was genuinely war-time used by a Luftwaffe Pilot or Aircrew-man. This Channel Jacket features press-snap buttons along the front, cuffs (one snap missing), and the bottom hem. As well as all original zippers on the cuffs. The bottom hem also features a belt and loop device for further support at the waist. On the left breast is a pocket for maps or other readily accessible material. The two front lower pockets feature press snaps for easy closing and securing what ever might need to be placed in them.

On the right front center opening is a manufacturer’s tag dated 1944 with the maker code RB-Nr. 0/0915/5232.
