In World War II, the primary mission of the IX Troop Carrier Command (TCC) was to facilitate aerial transportation for Allied airborne divisions in the European Theater. The command consisted of three troop carrier wings, 14 troop carrier groups, and a pathfinder group. Their fleet mainly consisted of C-47 Skytrain planes and CG-4 and CG-13 Waco gliders.
