Original World War Two US Army Second Army Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Patch.

During World War II, the Second Army gained recognition as a leading training force, preparing nearly one million men for combat. It was first established in October 1933 with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, as part of a group of field armies that would assist in the mobilization of troops during national emergencies. In December 1940, its headquarters were relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, and it was officially designated as a training army, conducting programs across 24 states. In June 1944, the World War I Second Army, AEF, was reinstated and merged with the existing Second Army to preserve the legacy and accolades of the original unit. During the war, Second Army trained 11 corps, 55 divisions, and 2,000 smaller units across different branches, totaling nearly a million soldiers, all of whom were deployed in various theaters of operation.
