Original World War Two US Army 34th Infantry Division Shoulder Sleeve Insignia Patch.

The division earned the nickname "The Red Bull" when American regionalist artist Marvin Cone, a soldier enlisted in the unit, designed the shoulder sleeve insignia during a 1917 training camp contest. The design featured a red steer skull placed over a black Mexican water jug, symbolizing the unit's time at Camp Cody, known for its desert training grounds. During World War II, German troops referred to the soldiers of the 34th Infantry Division as "Red Devils" and "Red Bulls," which eventually became the official divisional nickname.
