Original World War Two German Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ) Pre-RZM Handmade Pennant.
The DJ, "Deutsche Jungvolk" (German Youth), originated in Vienna, Austria in 1929, and was eventually to become the young branch of the HJ; for boys from 10 to 14 years old. The "Sig" rune first became associated with the DJ on November 9th, 1929, the sixth anniversary of the failed Beer Hall Putsch, when the Gauleiter of Vienna presented them with their first official flag, consisting of a black field with a central, silver "Sig" rune. It was afterward adopted as the official emblem of the DJ.
Amazing, one of a kind pre-RZM home made DJ “Wimpel” (Pennant) feauturing hand stitched motif’s such as “Boelke” and a Bi-Plane on one side along with remnants of stitching for a Bann number. The pennant itself is multi-piece construction, consisting of double-overlaid blue and white cotton twill, both sides overlaid by a white Sig rune affixed with machine stitching. One slight tear to the obverse as shown.
The Pennant measures 36.5” x 14”
