Original World War Two era US Army Air Forces Aviator Sunglasses made by American Optical’s Model AN6531.
Signs of wear and patination present. Made by American Optical during World War Two and supplied to air crew personnel of the USAAC (later to become the USAAF) and the US Navy. The classic "teardrop" shape of the lenses evolved in order to allow pilots to glance down at their instrument panels without having the obstruction of the traditional rounded frames impeding their view. This particular pair of AN 6531's has green tinted lenses and "comfort cable" side pieces and features a mother of pearl brow bar and nose pads.
